Veuve Chiequol Ponsardin - Champagne
The Champagne produced today by Veuve Clicquot still lives up to
the high standards set by Madame Clicquot, a young widow (veuve
in French) who took over her late husbands estate at the beginning
of the 19th century. It was Madame Clicquot who developed the
important riddling procedure for Champagne--a way to remove
dead yeast cells from bottles.

"Aromas of sweet black cherry, black plum and toasted almonds
burst from the glass of this Merlot. These bright fruit
characters carry over onto the palate and mingle with notes of
blackberry, dark chocolate and clove. A rich and full midpalate,
with polished tannins, leads to a lush finish with cassis
on the close."

structure strongly suggests mid- to long-term aging. Bone
dry, it has flashy flavors of black currants, dark chocolate
and cedar. Very fine. Best 2010–2015, if not longer in a
proper cellar." 93 Points
